Infant Minds to Childhood Networks: Charting Developmental Path in Flux 2024

Sep 4, 2024 | Flux Conference, For society members, Society Announcements

We can’t wait for #Flux2024! To help us gear up for the conference, we're lucky to have received details from many of our incredible speakers about their upcoming presentations. Below is a preview of one symposium focused on the developmental trajectory of connectivity, provided by chair Dr. Yana Fandakova. Stay tuned to our blog for more symposium previews, and don't forget to share your enthusiasm for these events on social media using #Flux2024!

Symposium VI: Development of Connectivity from Infancy through Childhood: Typical Trajectories and Risk-Related Alterations

Chair: Dr. Yana Fandakova, PhD, University of Trier
Speakers: Dr. Wei Gao, Dr. Zeynep Saygin, PhD, Dr. Jessica Cohen, PhD, and Dr. Jerod Rasmussen

Early childhood is an important time for cognitive and emotional development when the brain develops at a quick pace. In this symposium, we examine how functional brain connectivity develops from infancy through childhood and discuss how various risk factors influence connectivity development. The speakers, including Wei Gao, Zeynep Saygin, Jessica Cohen and Jerod Rasmussen, will focus on different aspects of functional connectivity, ranging from changes in whole-brain networks, to connectivity development of particular brain regions and will discuss links between connectivity development and behavioral outcomes. Attendees will gain key insights into the emergence and plasticity of brain connectivity from infancy through childhood.
