Description

We are looking for a full time research assistant to work on a project examining the neural and psychological causes of problems with motivation in individuals with psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression.

This work is being conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Deanna Barch at Washington University in St. Louis. The person will:

  1. have responsibility for testing and scanning participants using task-based functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and behavioral/cognitive/computerized testing;
  2. help with preprocessing and quality control of imaging and behavioral data; and
  3. work with a team of other research assistants to assess a large sample of individuals with task and resting state fMRI and behavioral data as part of the project.

We are looking with individuals who have:

  • good research experience,
  • will be comfortable working with individuals who have serious mental illness,
  • strong problem-solving skills,
  • good attention to detail,
  • the ability to work both independently and part of a team, and
  • strong comfort with computers.

 

This is an excellent position for someone considering graduate school in psychology or neuroscience in the future, with opportunities to be involved in data analysis.  

The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Psychological & Brain Sciences, Neuroscience, or a related field.  We are looking for someone who can start between March and June of 2026, and are happy to consider candidates graduating from college after the Spring Semester of 2026 who could start work full time after graduation.
