Lab Name: Cognition and Neurodevelopmental Studies (CNS)
Supervisor Name: Meghan Swanson
Position Title: Postdoc in Language Neurobiology

Description:

The CNS lab is a multiple PI-led research lab directed by Meghan Swanson and Jed Elison housed at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (https://midb.umn.edu/). The lab focuses on understanding brain and behavioral development of infants and young children by examining the critical period of brain development in the first two years of life, which represents a time of dynamic development, plasticity, and potential vulnerability. Our research participants include typically developing children, autistic children, children with agenesis of the corpus callosum, and infants with congenital cytomegalovirus infection.

The postdoc will primarily work on a new study of 200 infants that includes MRI brain scans and neurodevelopmental and cognitive assessments. The trainee will also have access to rich datasets that include MRI, home language environments, and eye tracking data. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing MRI data and an interest in language development. A two-year commitment is preferred. For questions, contact Meghan Swanson (swanson1@umn.edu). The position will remain open until filled.
