The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Quantitative Psychology, to begin July 2025.

Lab Name: CIRCLE Lab, University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill
Supervisor Name: Sheridan
Position Title: Assistant Professor

Description:

Assistant professor position in the Quant program at UNC. Particular interest in high-dimensional data like fMRI.

In recent years, high-density repeated measures have become ubiquitous, including internet behaviors, social media use, and passively collected smartphone and wearable-device data. With many people, variables, and time points, such multidimensional data offer new opportunities to model the dynamic unfolding of psychological processes in real time. We are therefore particularly (but not exclusively) interested in candidates with expertise in the measurement and modeling of high-density data structures. Other areas of expertise that complement those currently represented in the Department will also be considered. We welcome applications from candidates whose work aligns with our departmental mission and values as outlined at https://psychology.unc.edu/mission-values/

Primary responsibilities of the position will include conducting high-quality research, publishing in peer reviewed journals and broader dissemination, seeking external funding for research, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in quantitative methods, contributing to research mentoring of doctoral students, and engaging in departmental, university, and professional service activities.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field by the time of appointment.

We are seeking candidates with an excellent record of research productivity, the potential to develop an independent, externally funded, interdisciplinary and internationally recognized research program, and a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Please submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter, writing/research sample, teaching philosophy/evaluations, and research statement.

Application Process:

The application deadline is October 21, 2024. To be considered for the position, applicants must go to the UNC Career Website.

At the time of application, candidates will be required to identify the names, titles, and email addresses of four professional references who may be contacted by the search committee during the search process.

We will review your submission and reply with any questions.

Please note: The Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost office will not be able to provide specific updates regarding position or application status.

If you have any questions about the job requirements or the hiring department notify the Department Contact.
