Dr. Courtney Filippi invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral scholar to conduct studies on the neural basis of social-emotional development. Ongoing projects focus on how factors that are intrinsic to the individual (e.g., temperament) and early experiences shape risk for developing anxiety. Our work prioritizes the study of neural systems associated with infant attention and behavioral control and makes use of both MRI and EEG. To answer these questions, we will be collecting new data and working with several existing longitudinal imaging datasets.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with infants/toddlers in a research setting, programming skills (e.g., Matlab, R, Linux and/or Python), strong project management skills, be highly motivated to publish first-author papers, and will work well in a team environment. Experience working with MRI and/or EEG data acquisition/analysis is preferred. Responsibilities of the postdoc include data analysis, writing manuscripts, new study design/development, supervision of postbac trainees, preparing conference presentations, and writing mentored grant proposals.

This position is based in Dr. Filippi’s laboratory in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU Langone. The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry has a vibrant community of developmental scientists, cognitive neuroscientists, and clinicians. The lab and office spaces are located in Midtown Manhattan (One Park Ave, New York, NY). Lab space includes 6 family-friendly testing rooms that include a mock MRI scanner, EEG and eye-tracking room, a Hyperfine portable MRI system, and state-of-the-art behavioral testing space. MRI testing will be conducted at NYU’s Center for Brain Imaging (located in NYU’s Meyer Hall) and at a brand-new Langone research MRI (located on 51st street).

This position is to begin Summer or Fall 2023 for an initial term of 2-3 years. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Salary range: $58,000 – $65,000 per year plus full benefits.
