Our research is focused on understanding the neural basis of anxiety and the role of anxiety neurocircuitry in psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. We have several exciting federally-funded projects examining anxiety circuitry in different psychiatric disorders. We are also developing new collaborative research projects to investigate anxiety brain networks in autism spectrum disorders.

The Blackford lab is located at the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). The MMI is housed in a new world-class building designed specifically for children and families and to accelerate clinical translational research. UNMC is an academic health science center with a focus on research and is experiencing tremendous growth. Omaha has been names one of the best cities to live and work.
