The Department of Psychology at Florida International University is seeking a candidate for an Open Rank Tenure Track Faculty position in quantitative psychology. A Ph.D. in psychology or related discipline is required. Expertise in areas such as longitudinal modeling, structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling, computational modeling, dynamical systems, machine learning, and Bayesian statistics is welcomed. The selected candidate will teach advanced doctoral-level statistics courses within the department and collaborate actively with current faculty on funded extramural grants. Therefore, candidates with proven graduate teaching skills and prior collaborations with funded researchers are particularly desirable. Ideal candidates will possess an active research program that enhances the research profile and extramural funding in one or more of the department's program areas, including Applied Social and Cultural Psychology, Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental Science, I/O Psychology, and Legal Psychology. Mid-rank and senior candidates must have a strong record of publications and substantial active grant funding. Early-career candidates must have demonstrated evidence of or very strong potential for extramural funding and a solid record of scholarship in refereed journals. Our department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to and enhance the diversity of our academic community.
FIU is a vibrant, diverse, top-ranked R1 university in the heart of Miami. Psychology ranks 2nd nationally on research and development expenditures according to the NSF Higher Education Research and Development Survey and the psychology department faculty hold over $45 million in grants. The department has 35+ tenure-track faculty, 20+ full-time teaching/research/clinical faculty, and 100+ Ph.D. students spread across our six doctoral specialty programs, 200+ graduate students in our master's programs, and over 5,000 undergraduate psychology majors. Collaborative research is emphasized and many faculty share investigator status on grants. Most faculty access additional resources and collaborations through affiliation with several university research centers, including the Center for Children and Families (CCF), the Center for Imaging Science (CIS), and the Global Forensic and Justice Center (GFJC). The CCF is an interdisciplinary Center that focuses on research, education, and service in child and adolescent mental health, with strong connections to the community and the Miami- Dade County Public Schools, the fourth largest District in the nation. The CIS includes a research- dedicated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility that supports a 3T Siemens MAGNETOM Prism equipped to run the Human Connectome Protocol. The GFJC brings together experts from across the spectrum in the service of equitable justice through research, education, and training. University resources available to our faculty also include High-Performance Computational Resources (HPC), state- of-the-art animal care facilities for rodent, avian, and large animal research, and wet-lab and optical imaging equipment supporting researchers in behavioral neuroscience.
