Be a part of a national, comprehensive study on the impact of early adversity on young children’s outcomes. The University of Maryland is accepting applications for a Research Associate who has strong project management and community engagement expertise, and interest in studying early adversity and child development. This full-time appointment will be for multiple years starting on June 1, 2023, contingent on performance and sufficient funding. Under the mentorship of Dr. Brenda Jones Harden and her colleagues, Drs. Nathan Fox and Tracy Riggins, the Research Associate will help coordinate a longitudinal study on early adversity and child outcomes, and contribute to data collection.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinating participant recruitment/retention in hospitals, clinics, and community-based settings
• Collecting data in clinics, university labs, community settings, and families’ homes
• Presenting to practitioner staff and community partners about research findings
• Supervising and mentoring other research staff
• Contributing to publications and conference presentations

Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Psychology, Human Development, Social Work, Public Health, Education, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment
• Experience working with families exposed to adversity
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate on a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with practitioners and families in communities
• Past involvement in research projects preferred, but not required
• Bilingual Spanish a plus
