Postdoctoral research position The Greene Lab at the University of California, San Diego invites applicants for a postdoctoral researcher position in developmental cognitive neuroscience. We study typical and atypical brain network development using several MRI techniques, including functional connectivity, task fMRI, and structural MRI. Specific research topics include the development of cognitive control and sensorimotor systems, cortico-striatal connectivity, and how these systems go awry in developmental disorders, with a focus on Tourette syndrome and its common comorbidities (e.g., ADHD, OCD). We use both classic cross-subject group-level approaches, and emerging within-subject individual-level approaches (Precision Functional Mapping) in concurrence with network analysis and multivariate machine learning techniques. The successful candidate will take the lead on their choice of exciting projects, having the opportunity to bring their own ideas and/or build off burgeoning hypotheses in the lab. They will be able to collect new data and/or dive into the lab’s extant datasets, which include functional connectivity and structural MRI data in typically and atypically developing populations, an ongoing R01-funded longitudinal study of tic disorders, and a highly unique dataset of multiple MRI scan sessions for Precision Functional Mapping in children. In addition, the candidate will have access to the unparalleled resources at UCSD, including state-of-the-art equipment and computing infrastructure, as well as the highly collaborative neuroimaging community that includes Cognitive Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, and ABCD study investigators. The lab PI, Dr. Deanna Greene, always has an “open door” policy, encourages collaborative and open science, and strives to promote the career of her trainees. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent degree in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, or a related field. Ideal applicants will have experience with MRI data acquisition and/or analysis, programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Python), and knowledge of statistics. Additional preferred qualifications include experience working with children, and experience using advanced analytic techniques (e.g., multivariate machine learning, network analysis).
