SESYNC Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity The National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship opportunity. Supported by the National Science Foundation and the University of Maryland, the SESYNC Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports the scholarly efforts and immersion training of PhDs who wish to pursue careers in research and creative inquiry, and provides support for collaborative mentoring. Successful candidates will use synthesis methods to address a problem arising from, or associated with, the relationship between humans and the environment. The Center provides salary support, benefits (health insurance, paid leave), and travel expenses for conference activities and mentor collaborations. As noted in the announcement<www.sesync.org/opportunities/research-fellowships-postdoctoral-fellowships/socio-environmental-immersion-1>, prospective postdoc applicants interested in co-developing a synthesis research project are responsible for initiating and developing a relationship with Collaborating Mentors. Dr. Devon Payne-Sturges<sph.umd.edu/people/devon-c-payne-sturges> and Dr. Tracy Riggins<psyc.umd.edu/facultyprofile/riggins/tracy> at the University of Maryland, College Park are interested in co-developing a proposal with an applicant to model and evaluate the combined effects of climate change or ambient air pollution exposures and psychosocial stressors on children’s mental health or neurodevelopment and examine the role of the built and natural environments in these relationships using epidemiological and systems science modeling approaches. Prospective postdoc applicants with similar research interests and who would like to co-develop and submit a proposal to this call should contact Dr. Payne-Sturges at <mailto:>. Please send a short summary of your interest and an updated CV. Candidates are encouraged to review the program, requirements, and deadlines at (sesync.us/postdoc2020).
