Post-Doctoral Research Associate & Post-Baccalaureate Research Positions in Clinical Developmental Neuroscience University of Maryland, College Park
Dr. Lea Dougherty (University of Maryland College Park) is seeking to hire a fulltime post-baccalaureate research assistant AND a post-doctoral research associate for NIMH-funded research projects examining neural mechanisms of youth irritability. The projects include new data collection in young children as well use of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study data. We use functional and structural MRI methods.
Post-doctoral research associate: Candidates must have completed or be in the process of completing a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, or other related discipline. Training in fMRI data analysis, programming experience and knowledge of advanced statistical methods (e.g., multilevel modeling), clinical diagnostic assessments, mastery of English speaking and writing, are preferred. Successful candidates should have attention to detail and strong organization, problem solving, and analytic skills. Prior background in developmental or clinical neuroscience is also a plus but not required. The position will provide opportunities for training in big data management and analysis, advanced computational methods and longitudinal data analysis, and writing and submitting manuscripts and grant applications.
Post-baccalaureate research assistant: Successful candidates should have completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related discipline and have keen attention to detail, and strong organization, problem solving, and analytic skills. Prior background in psychology and development is also a plus but not required. We seek a post-bac who is motivated and ambitious, who is prepared for a hands-on research experience. Responsibilities will include: (1) behavioral coding of child and parent behavior (e.g., child temperament, parent-child interactions); (2) training and supervising undergraduate students; (3) clinical interviewing; (4) contributing to administrative duties of the lab; and (5) assisting with research protocols and compliance.
