Description:

The Neuroscience and Behavior program at Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City, seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor, starting July 2025. The successful candidate will establish an active, externally funded research program in neuroscience. Applicants with laboratory and/or computational research programs are encouraged to apply.

Examples of areas of research include cognitive/computational, systems, and molecular neuroscience with a focus on development. Teaching responsibilities entail 4 courses per year. We are especially interested in candidates with demonstrated experience or potential for mentoring undergraduate researchers from diverse backgrounds. Barnard faculty are part of the larger New York City neuroscience community that includes the opportunity for collaborations with the broader Columbia University community including the Zuckerman Institute and the Columbia University Medical College. The Neuroscience and Behavior Department will be moving to a new state of the art research facility with an expected completion date of summer 2026 and anticipate several additional hires.

Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience required; teaching experience desirable. Applicants should submit a CV, cover letter, research and teaching statements, two representative publications, and contact information for three references from whom we can solicit recommendation letters here.
