Lab Name: Tulane University
Position Title: Assistant Professor in Developmental Science at Tulane University
Description:
We are especially interested in scholars who conduct basic research in developmental science that emphasizes mechanisms of change over time. We welcome applications from researchers studying infants, children, and/or adolescents within all subfields of developmental science, including developmental cognitive neuroscience and developmental affective neuroscience. We will prioritize applications from candidates whose research interests can complement and bridge the current strengths of our faculty in cognitive and social development (e.g., attention, emotion, identity development, learning/memory, social reasoning, stress/vulnerability, resilience). Experience with diverse and cutting-edge methodologies in developmental science will also be prioritized, especially as the University is launching new initiatives around data science. The Tulane Brain Institute currently maintains shared fNIRS equipment and the University has recently opened a new 3T MRI facility that includes an in-house mock scanner and infant/child playroom.
Tulane is also a strong supporter of cross-disciplinary research. Collaborations are possible with faculty outside the Department and many of our faculty are active members of interdisciplinary programs across the University, including the Tulane Brain Institute, the Africana Studies program, and the Violence Prevention Institute. Ability to interface with other departments and programs across the University would be considered a plus.
Faculty in the Psychology Department are also expected to mentor PhD student research, as well as offer courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The Department of Psychology comprises three graduate training areas, including Brain, Cognition and Developmental Sciences, Social Psychology, and School Psychology. The ideal candidate for this position will enhance Departmental or University Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives through their research and/or teaching.
